What is the type of authorization?

A type rating is the certification of an aircraft pilot by a regulatory authority (i.e. FAA, DGCA, JAA, CAA, and other ICAO authorities) to operate a particular type of aircraft that requires additional training beyond the scope of the initial license. and aircraft class training. The local aviation authority decides for which aircraft a type rating is required. In many countries, pilots of single-engine airplanes of a certain maximum weight (generally 5,700 kg or 12,500 lb) do not require a type rating for each model, and instead, all or most of these airplanes are covered by a rating.

- When do you need one?

- If you plan to fly an aircraft that weighs more than 12,500 pounds (5700 kg),  you will most likely need a type rating.

- The airline's job now is to obtain your type rating. But many people get their own type rating these days, especially in Indiana among others; A320 and B737.

- Giving a candidate a type rating reduces training costs for airlines. As it is the airline's responsibility to obtain the type rating. Many airlines look for TYPE HOURS first when looking for a type-rated pilot. That means experience in the aircraft type, i.e.; A320 or B737 and all other aircraft.

-  So if you don't have hours on the type it's no use anyway unless airlines hire pilots with zero hours on the type, which happens once on the blue moon. Turboprops, commercial jets, or other large planes, or even piston lessons help a lot when you have zero hours on the type but hours on other planes.

- If you have a type rating and only CPL of 250 hours, it is good if your airline is hiring and the chances of getting hired right under the TR are between 90 and 100%. If not, it is important to be up to date in order to fly this aircraft.

- If you are not up to date, you will need to attend regular training that costs a minimum of INR 24 lakhs or $ 3000-6000 to come back and re-validate your qualification. You can't apply, can you? For your information, all of the major airlines in the Middle East, Asia, and the US are giving theirs. I don't know much about Europe, but everything is the same.
